Knight record

Tarcus

Follow Countess Mathilda’s side of the Gavault rebellion.

Last updated: Patch context: v1.1.0

A Gavault loyalist with strong Wits and a political allegiance that affects quest outcomes.

How to get Tarcus

  1. Open the Gavault political storyline. The early county decision matters; a Groveshire-first run follows a different opening.
  2. During the rebellion, choose an investigation that supports Countess Mathilda. Community quest records identify the nobles and taverns as mother-side investigations.
  3. Continue the loyalist response against the rebellion and read the resulting audience.
  4. Accept Tarcus when the route presents his candidacy.

The route is described by Guidexon's recruitment guide and the Tarcus recruitment article. Recruitment depends on the county branch; it is not established as a free-standing Map Room purchase available from the beginning.

See the Brunhilda route before committing to a side. For the distinction between knowledge and a complete state reset, read Demon Power.

The quest database places the popular-class investigation on the daughter's side. That makes the audience wording more useful than a generic instruction to “finish the Gavault quests.”

The starting values in Raider King's roster make Tarcus a durable, high-Wits recruit with useful Strength. His low Charisma and zero starting Magic limit his flexibility.

His listed traits are Nobility Primes, Nobles Defender, Unpleasant and Killer. Hunt and Assassination suit his reported preferences; Diplomacy, Woods and Scouting do not. Shortbread and Pré fou are listed as favourite meals. Use the actual quest tags and current equipment before assigning him: a large Wits value does not cancel every unfavourable trait.

Quest risks

Tarcus's allegiance can affect results as well as success. In particular, the community quest database records a People penalty when he frees Epicrate. Guidexon's recruitment account also warns that he attempts to harm Epicrate. The exact consequence differs between accounts; choose another available Knight when preserving Epicrate or public support is the objective. The Epicrate guide compares the trial and prison-break alternatives.

His strong starting armour also does not make failed jobs harmless. Inspect the duration, damage risk and disliked categories before sending him to cover a missing stat on a long assignment.

If his audience is missing

Check whether you actually opened Gavault, which side the investigation supported, whether the county quest has returned, and whether the rebellion has already been resolved for Brunhilda. Those are concrete route checks; an exact recruitment cycle is not reliably established across the available accounts.

Sources and version

The recruitment path and numerical profile are community-reported. Official patch notes through 1.1.0 do not supply a universal Tarcus recruitment script, so this page does not promise that every rewind can combine mutually opposed county outcomes.
